WHAT IS HUMAN WORDS PROJECT?
We started talking this spring about human words project as a response to the rise of artificial intelligence’s capability to create apparently effortless, well-shaped prose. We were alarmed, like many who love words and work with words. What, we wondered, could be the future of language in a world where machines could speak and write what previously it seemed only people could? What AI is, we think, is a strong invitation to celebrate with new energy what human words have always been able to do, singularly and powerfully. Human words are embodied: they come from, form, and flow out of the physicality of us. Championing human words in a time of the growing use of AI is a stand for authenticity in human connection. We believe we are in a paradigm shifting moment in history and this both calls us to act and opens the door for new possibility. Explore this site, join in the movement, and celebrate with us what human words can do!

WHY A HUMAN WORDS STAMP?
We have created several HWP digital stamps that you can download and include on your work--web site, email footers, blogs, social media, Spotify, publications, BandCamp--to affirm that all the words found there were created by a human. By you.
Why would you want to do you such a thing?
This is the heart of the project. We believe that it is rapidly becoming very important to show others that we are making the conscious choice to both make and enjoy things in human words, and to show the value to the reader of knowing that the words came from a human. Read more about it here.
They are free to download (works best in Google Chrome). Right click on the image/s you want and download anywhere. We ask that the stamp not be altered in any way besides its size. Spread the message! That’s all there is to it!

Send in a 30-second video clip of yourself speaking, singing, moving, creating your favorite word for our WORDS OUT section.
Send in a max 250 word story or poem or spoken word on the topic of “Human Words that Saved my Life.”
Buy and wear a t-shirt! Give them as gifts!
Start a Human Words Project gathering in your town or city, in your home, independent bookstore, or public library. Send us a picture of the group!
Invite us onto your podcast, write an article or blog post about hwp, or have us on your youtube channel.
Commit to our Humanifesto by including the HWP digital stamp (see below) to your own web site, local business (on fliers, menus, store windows, you name it), or social media presence when its 100% human words.
Add a tagline to the end of your podcast, maybe something like: “This podcast is made with 100 percent human words and is part of the human words project.”
